Those in the know aren’t limited to what’s on the menu. Take, for example, automotive executive John Elkann. When it came time to order his 2013 Ferrari FF he opted for a number of add-ons most buyers probably didn’t realize were available for the sporty shooting brake. And now, you can benefit from his insider knowledge since that grand tourer will be auctioned off by RM Sotheby’s later this month. If you’re going to get creative spec’ing out a Prancing Horse, the FF is a pretty good canvas to work with. The car, which debuted in 2011, is one of the more unorthodox V-12s in the marque’s history. The reason is simple: it is a three-door shooting brake instead of a two-door Berlinetta. At the time of its debut, Elkann, who is currently the executive chairman of Ferrari, was the head of Fiat, the then-owner of the legendary sports car maker. This might help explain why, when it was time for the grandson of Gianni Agnelli to order his personal example of the GT, he decided to have some fun. Elkann’s FF is finished in Nuovo Blu, a special-order hue that helps accentuate the vehicle’s sleek exterior. That choice alone is eye-catching, but it’s the interior options that really make the GT stand out. The vehicle’s four seats are covered in Blu cloth, a material you rarely ever find on modern-day Ferraris, with white contrast piping and the Cavallino logo embroidered into each headrest. Rounding out the cabin details are color-matching carbon-fiber trim and a full-length glass sunroof. As stylish as the FF may be, its main selling point, like most Ferraris, is its engine. The car is powered by the same naturally aspirated 6.3-liter V-12 found in the F12berlinetta. The mill makes 651 hp and 504 ft lbs of torque, which was enough grunt to push it from zero to 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds and to a top speed of 208 mph. Elkann seems to have actually driven his FF, due to which the auction house reports it has 9,965 miles on the odometer at the time of cataloging. Intrigued by Elkann’s blue FF? The shooting brake will hit the block as part of RM Sotheby’s Paris auction, which will be held on Wednesday, January 28. The auction house expects the gorgeous car to fetch between $255,000 and $370,000.
