A vast trove of classic Ferraris, Porsches, Alfa Romeos, De Tomasos, and more is going up for auction in March, the collection of a lifetime from a former German Olympic cyclist and car dealer.
The lineup includes 21 Ferraris, six Alfa Romeos, two Porsches, a Lancia, a Mercedes-Benz, a Jaguar, and a Chevron race car, among others. It will be auctioned on March 15 by Artcurial in Paris.
“It’s simply time for me to pass on my life’s work,” Fritz Neuser told Auto Moto und Sport.
The most expensive car in the collection, judging by the estimated prices, is a 1970 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona, which could go for $945,000. Others include a 1995 Sbarro Alcador Roadster that could go for $475,000, a 2006 Ferrari 575 Superamerica that could go for $532,000, a 1953 Mercedes-Benz 220 Cabriolet A that could go for $190,000, a 1970 Alfa Romeo GTAm 2-litre that could go for $350,000, and a 1959 Fiat Abarth 2200 Allemano Spider that could go for $165,000.
Other lots in the vast collection of the German cyclist also include a Ferrari golf bag that could fetch $300, carburetors for a Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona that are estimated to go for as high as $23,000, and two standing tables with Ferrari insignia on them that could sell for $475.
The collection is, indeed, the result of a lifetime of collecting Ferrari things, as Neuser, now 93, was a Ferrari dealer for decades until 2003. Before that, Neuser was a champion cyclist and won several national titles in road and track cycling events. He was in Melbourne for the Olympics in 1956, retired in 1957, and embarked on a new career selling cars, specifically Goggomobil. Later, Neuser raced cars, winning several hillclimbs and track events.
A 1968 Goggomobil TS 250 Coupe is also in the collection and will be sold at a price estimated to be between $9,500 and $16,500. That car is one of the oldest in Neuser’s collection and is a reminder of his roots, before he was one of Germany’s biggest Ferrari and Alfa Romeo dealers. Now, the Goggomobil and the rest of his cars seek new stewards for the next generation.
