This New 147-Foot Superyacht Concept Was Inspired by 1920s Italian Architecture

For the build of its newest superyacht concept, DYDXL Design Forge took a visit to the past. The Italian studio’s latest project, known as Talassea 145, takes design cues from Rationalist architecture, a discipline that flourished in the country back in the 1920s and ’30s. As a result, the sub-500GT vessel is a study of volumes, according to DYDXL, one that focuses on balance and proportions throughout each space aboard. And, since every area has a clear purpose, Talassea 145 offers up the comfort and space of a much larger yacht, with no volume wasted. That starts right in the interiors, where architect and DYDXL founder Franco Gnessi added plenty of modern design touches to the 147-footer, including striking marble, wooden elements, and pops of deep green in the main saloon. There, you’ll also find expansive windows bring those ocean views in. The skylounge, too, offers up those panoramic sights of the sea and an ideal place to unwind. As for accommodations, there are four guest cabins aboard (two of which can be converted, depending on what you’d like to use them for). The standout is, of course, the full-beam owner’s suite on the main deck, a feature usually found on a much larger vessel. That space is home to a stunning marble bathroom, a large closet, and an office space. The lower deck, meanwhile, is home to four crew cabins. Heading outdoors, that’s where the true magic happens aboard Talassea. The beach club is home to a swimming pool and opening bulwarks, which increases the relaxation area in the aft. The upper deck is home to another outdoor social area, while you’ll find yet another pool encircled by a large bench on the flybridge, alongside a bar and dining area (all of which, too, can be configured to the owner’s desires.) All of that is framed by the superyacht’s smooth, clean exterior lines, as well as a sharp bow. In terms of grunt, the concept is powered by a diesel-electric propulsion system with azipods, giving it the chance to cruise with zero emissions for 30 to 60 minutes—a nice additional when sailing in sensitive marina areas.
